Turn her on

Plug in, turn on, tune up.
More lovely photographs of Sweden:

These are all photographs taken just moments before the main gig we played in Jonkoping. Apparently, the radio interview we did after this gig is going to be put onto youtube courtesy of "Live! Radio Jonkoping". So keep checking this site as we will have more details soon.

More pictures and lots of new information about gigs and merchandise coming very soon.

Swinging arms, cobblestone shoes.

We have a gig coming up at Wrexham Central Station on the 21st of January 2010. We're supporting The ruling class, check it out by following the link to the Wrexham Central Station website below or have a look at our myspace for all the details by following the links to the right right right:

Bumphf!

We hope you're all having/had a lovely bonfire night, soon it will be Christmas and the New Year will be creeping in. We are now set on the date for the big gig at the 02 Academy, Liverpool (January 29th 2010). We're writing new 'shit-yourself-with-shock' material, which we hope to take to the studio sometime before January so that we have a new E.P. to give away, ONLY at the big gig. We also hope have Badges and Stickers ready for everyone who comes! However, more on this at a later date. Meanwhile, here is a lovely shot of the boys bumphfing it in Sweden:

Backstage and sound check

Some pictures of our first gig in the music venue in Linkoping. The boys made the mistake of sending Ryan to get some food to eat backstage before the gig:

Then Martin announced that our flights back to England had been cancelled and we would all be stuck in Sweden:

Lenny the machine.

James and Ryan being silly in the tour bus:

After a long journey with Lenny the machine (Lenny was our tour bus driver. When driving he didn't believe in stopping, slowing down, talking or engaging in conversation. A true machine.) at the wheel, the boys did something Lenny found quite disgusting:

The boys outside the tour bus; tired, sweaty and hungry (Ryan).:

A lovely touch to the tour bus - Mikael put posters in all of the windows:

This is the view across lake Vattern, the second largest lake in Sweden:

It was freezing cold although there were 'blue skies and sandy beaches'.

Jonkoping town and other things.

The lovely big pink (How appropriate.) house that we stayed was a short walk from the town, beach and local swimming pool/mini golf centre. The house was in the grounds of Jonkoping college so I'm sure we interrupted many of the lessons with our loud, disruptive behaviour.

Huge banner advertising the festival:

There were posters and banners and things all over the town. We walked into one of the trendy equivalents of 'Topman/River Island' to buy socks (For Callum) and one of the assistants asked us why we were in Sweden. We said we're in a band and we're playing the festival. She was surprised and said 'You must be Pink River Dolphins!' and pointed to a big poster on the wall advertising the festival and the bands that were playing. That's when we knew we had conquered Sweden.

Some of the strange and wonderful things we saw around the town:

We have no idea what this was but if you look closely in the top right corner there is also a noose in the advertisement...?
Another strange advert:

In 1853 the Swedish inventor J.E. Lundstrum (Below) patented the safety match. Here is his bust in the city centre:

And finally, King don, chilling in the town:

There are loads more pictures and videos of our Swedish adventures which I will post soon. We are also looking at setting up a 'www.pinkriverdolphins.com' very soon so keep checking back for more details.

Festival Day

Good gig last night (The pictures will be on the way soon.) we had free drinks at the bar all night which was a bonus. The crowd got involved in the songs (Clapping, cheering etc.) which was nice to see. The Swedish are beautiful people. Lots of CD's were given out through the night which created a good buzz. Straight after our set we were back on the road in our 'tour bus' to go and watch the last bands at the festival which we are playing tonight. We also went backstage and had a three course meal cooked for us - Schnitzel's, Salad and Roast potatoes etc. After being treated like Kings we headed over to the stage and watched a few bands, overall it was a exciting night. Afterwards we we're approached by a beautiful Swedish girl called Amanda who asked us if we would like to do a radio interview today (17th October) at 7pm at the festival. We are also playing on the un-plugged stage at 6pm before the big gig tonight.

So far our Swedish tour is going well. Can't wait to play. All excited for tonight.

Hopefully more pictures and other bits tomorrow.

Tack!

Sweden

View from the plane:

The excitement was mounting. The views of the Swedish landscape are spectacular: Vast, dark blue lakes, autumnal trees and the odd red barn. No sign of Ikea yet though...

The plane ride was grim. No one could sleep for longer than 10 minutes. We made the most of our situation and improvised with the shoebox conditions we we're given.
We had a copy of 'Front' magazine which kept us going when things got low.

When we arrived at Sweden, Jonkoping (Yurrn-shurr-ping) we were shown around our home for the weekend and given presents of sweets, matches and alarm clocks.

We then went shopping with Micke and got food (For Ryan). Micke paid for it all, he's good guy.

Then we went to the beach at the south end of the 2nd largest lake in Sweden:

Later on, looking at Churches:
Lovely.

Enjoying some 'Varm Choklad' in a little cafe in the main town:

Note the 'batidor' poking out the top of the jug of hot chocolate.

In the dead of the night...

The new songs are almost finished, the excitment around Sweden is growing and we have some new demos on the way with free PRD stickers!
Mikael, our Swedish contact has managed to get us onto Swedish radio and is creating a huge hype around the 'The band all the way from the UK'. We're also taking our demos to Sweden to sell on the merchandise stands at the festival!
I'm getting nervous now though because according to Mikael, they've sold over 2,000 tickets for the festival so far...

New songs for Sweden...

Had a great band practice the other night, talked about set lists for the gigs in Sweden. We've got some new songs brewing and a gig tomorrow (Monday the 5th October) with Callum McMorran at 'The Magnet' in Liverpool. Also hoping to play the 02 Academy in November...
We're taking lots of cameras to Sweden with us and we'll post pictures and videos of how it's all going. Exciting stuff!

Pink River Dolphins

Pink River Dolphins hail from the Northwest and are punching neon synth-pop back to the 80's with their dirty, rock 'n' roll fuzz. The band puts the same amount of effort into every one of their chaotically raucous live shows, whether it's a small pub/club or a prestigious Northwest venue (Barfly, 02 Academy, Korova Club). Citing collective influences such as Supergrass, The Clash, The Libertines, The Kinks, the band members draw on their own individual music tastes to provide a more original take on these group influences. These idividual influences have shaped the way the band members play, such as Callum's funk-fuzz bass techniques and Ryan's gritty blues based guitar riffs. Now, with the release of their second E.P, and upcoming tour of Sweden, the band continue to build their fan base, write new material and perform powerfully energetic live shows.
